The Miami International Film Festival

Runs from March 2nd, 2007 – March 11th, 2007

The MIFF is in town and your cultural sensibilities are hungering for this experience. The truly great indie films that come from this festival go on to Oscar nominations, huge popularity and a permanent place in the minds of people who appreciate great “little films that could” with limited budgets and no big wig studio backing. Films from more than 50 countries bestow their presence in South Florida and leave their audiences awestruck. “Thank you for Smoking” and “Lost City” are just a couple of the films that emerged as stand outs from last year’s festival. This year, several of the featured films have gone on to become international prize-winners and Oscar nominees and winners. Check out the films that are still playing at select theatres and visit the link below to purchase tickets online.

MIAMI ENCUENTROS
Begun in 2003 by MIFF director, Nicole Guillemet, Miami Encuentros’ mission is to give emerging producers from Portugal, Spain, and Latin America the opportunity to present new projects to U.S. industry professionals: producers, sales agents, television stations and distributors. This intensive three-day event fosters dialog, builds lasting connections and offers opportunities for networking and nurturing the next generation of filmmakers, providing access to distributors and thus, to the public.
